PBJ Connections is opening our staff trainings to the community for free.  Join us to learn about the basics of Deaf Culture and ASL.

This training is free and held at the PBJ Connections Office – 9734 Jug St NW, Pataskala, OH 43062 on February 25th from 1 -3 PM. EAGALA CEU’s are available.

The Basics of Deaf Culture and ASL – Presented by Dawn Watts

Dawn Watts is a member of the Deaf community and has spent a lifetime working on leadership for deaf youth, working with deaf/blind people, and as an advocate for deaf women.

In this workshop, you will learn how to use facial expression or gesture communication and the following objectives will be met:

  1. To understand better that a Deaf child or person’s first language is “vision”
  2. How does ASL help deaf person?  Or does it?
  3. Differences between the Deaf World vs Hearing World
  4. Encounter communication
